Gordon Pennoyer

Managing Partner

Gordon Pennoyer specializes in advising boards and management teams as they navigate their most consequential reputational challenges and transformative events.

Over the course of his career, Gordon has developed and executed comprehensive communications programs across a wide range of complex and sensitive issues including Chapter 11 restructurings, high-profile litigation, mergers and acquisitions, activist investors and proxy fights, and a variety of public policy matters.

Prior to co-founding DrivePath Advisors, Gordon directed the communications team at Chesapeake Energy Corporation for nearly ten years. In that role he helped the company navigate two CEO transitions, one of the largest Chapter 11 restructurings in recent history, a $4 billion merger, over $15 billion of divestitures and asset spin-offs, and multiple high-profile proxy fights, litigation, and operating incidents. In addition, Gordon led Chesapeake’s ESG reporting and related stakeholder engagement efforts.

While at Chesapeake, Gordon also served as the Chair of the American Petroleum Institute’s Communications Committee, where he helped develop the industry’s response to climate change. Additionally, Gordon was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Energy Resource Board by the Oklahoma Senate Pro Tem.

Prior to Chesapeake, Gordon worked at H&K Strategies where he provided strategic counsel and crisis support to a wide range of clients. Additionally, Gordon is a veteran of two presidential campaigns and political conventions.

Gordon graduated from Kenyon College and earned his MBA from Rice University. He currently serves as the President of Millbrook School’s Alumni Association and as a member of the school’s Board of Trustees.
